Make the next step clear

In class, students listen to a direction and put it into action. Keeping the goal clear helps them know what to work on and gives the instructor a chance to offer specific guidance.

Build a familiar routine

Knowing what comes next can make a new environment more comfortable. Repeated class routines give students opportunities to practice paying attention, waiting their turn, and moving with the group.

Expect progress to look different

Every child has their own pace. We do not expect perfect focus, and a difficult class does not erase the effort a student has made. Share what helps your child so we can work together.

Keep encouragement specific

Notice a moment of listening or persistence and name it. “You watched the demonstration and tried the first step” is a useful reminder of something they can do again.

Take the next step at your own pace.
