BACK TO YOUR STUDENT HUB

Ages 8–12 · FREEDOM MARTIAL ARTS

Young Warriors CURRENT CURRICULUM.

Technique, self-control, and responsibility come together as students set goals and take more ownership of their training.

CURRENT TRAINING CYCLE

WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON.

Kicks

Front kicks 1-5

Practice all five variations. Set your stance, return each kick with control, and check your balance.

Form

Ki Bon

Know the order and give every movement a clear purpose. Work slowly on the section that needs attention.

Stick combination

Three count, both sides with partners

Practice both sides and learn to match a partner’s rhythm and distance in class.

Self-defense

Wrist release and follow-up sequence

Use the other hand as taught, step back, and release toward the thumb side. Continue with backfist, ridge hand, and knee strike as shown.

BEYOND THE BELT · THIS CYCLE’S LIFE SKILL

Make the next choice on purpose.

We are slowing down enough to think before speaking or moving. Set up a skill carefully, use feedback, and choose a respectful response when you feel frustrated.

AT HOME, TRY SAYING

“What could you change about your setup or response next time?”

NOTICE THE LITTLE WINS

Look for a student noticing an error, choosing a correction, or using a calmer response without a reminder.

A LITTLE PRACTICE AT HOME.

Plan three short sessions of about 8-10 minutes each week. Repeat A, B and C to cover all four curriculum sections and Beyond the Belt. Work through a small form section, use open hands for your stick pattern, and picture the moves as you build control and recall.

  1. A · KICKS + FORMReview front kicks 1-5 slowly, with a balanced return. Work on a short Ki Bon section and apply one correction from class.
  2. B · STICK COUNTS + SELF-DEFENSECount through your three-count pattern on both sides with open hands. This helps your body remember the rhythm and direction. For self-defense review, say and picture the wrist-release, backfist, ridge-hand and knee-strike sequence in order.
  3. C · REVIEW + BEYOND THE BELTRevisit your kick correction and Ki Bon section. Practice one pause before responding in an everyday conversation. Note what improved and one question to bring to class.

Use only movements your instructor has assigned for home. Keep practice gentle, with clear space and the supervision they recommend. If a solo version has not been taught, count, name, or picture the steps and bring your question to class. Leave sticks, targets, partner grabs, contact, locks, chokes, jumping, and spinning for supervised class. Never use a household object in place of training equipment.

YOUR NEXT STEP.

Ask your instructor which skills are your priority right now and what readiness looks like for your next milestone. We’ll help you understand the expectations and recognize the progress you’re making.
